Without widespread use of taxes and limits on the promotion of unhealthy food,the number of people who are clinically obese will increase from one in seven today to one in four by 2035. If that happens,almost 2 billion people worldwide would be living with obesity(月肥胖).
Judging from appearance seems to be vague. Those with a body mass index(BMI) of 25 are judged to be overweight, while people whose BMI is at least 30 are claimed to be obese. Evidence shows that obesity increases someone's risk of cancer,heart disease and other diseases.
Obesity among children and young people is on course to increase faster than among adults. By 2035 it is expected to be at least double the rate seen in 2020,according to the federation's latest annual World Obesity Atlas report. It is expected to rise by 100% among boys under 18,leaving 208 million affected, but go up even more sharply—-by 125% among girls the same age, which would see 175 million of them affected.
Prof Louise Baur,the federation's president,said the findings were a clear warning that by failing to address obesity today, we risk serious hits in the future. “It is especially worrying to see obesity rates rising fastest among teenagers and adolescents. " he put it seriously. “Governments and policymakers around the world need to do all they can to avoid passing health, social and economic costs on to the younger generation,” Baur added.

Even now,I have vivid memories of my last day of high school. Working as a Team
At Uppingham School, there is a program called the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. It encourages students to challenge themselves in a number of ways and helps them develop physical strength and personal skills. The time that is required to be spent on each task varies according to the type of award one wants to win. For the gold award,either the “physical" or “skill" test should last for 12 months.
The most challenging part of the program is the expedition. In the gold group, we have to spend four days and three nights outdoors. We chose to go canoeing for our trip. It took months for us to prepare,as we had to learn some survival skills.
Although we trained hard and learned all the skills beforehand, our practice expedition was much more difficult than we expected. We had to canoe for at least six hours a day,keeping rowing through the water. We also dealt with various difficulties,such as falling into the water and having to get out of the canoe and drug it over some rocks.
Although physical strength is important,it was teamwork that really got us through the four days. We learned to cooperate with our teammates to find the right way to paddle. When we were in trouble, we helped each other out,as well as shared our food and dry clothes. It was an unforgettable experience that turned me into a stronger and more tolerant person. A new study found that the most well-liked students among their classmates are those who studied well and were helpful and kind. On the other hand,the classmates they considered the most popular were sometimes seen as mean and aggressive(好斗的). The study can provide information for educators who want to understand their students' experiences and learn how to encourage positive behavior.
For the study,Nicole Brass worked with colleagues at the University of Michigan and surveyed more than 500 middle school students. The students were asked who they thought were the most well-liked among their classmates and who they thought were the most popular. And they were also asked what behavior made their classmates well-liked or popular. About half of the students were together as classmates at the same school since kindergarten(幼兒園),while the other half attended a new middle school elsewhere after kindergarten. The two groups of students liked the same type of classmates.“The kids that the two groups say they like a lot are those who try hard at school and are always nice," Brass says.
However, when it came to the kids considered as popular,there was a huge difference between the two groups. Those students who had been together since kindergarten reported the most popular students were also kind and helpful, while the students who attended a new middle school reported the most popular students tended to be mean and aggressive. This suggests that behavior that is not positive can result in popularity in the short term before students get to know one another well.

For many British parents, what they care most is that their children can receive a good education. The education system of Britain is world-famous. With a long history of academic excellence and a reputation for producing some of the finest minds,it attracts thousands of students from overseas to be educated in many different places including state schools and private schools.
In Britain,state schools are maintained and funded by the government or local education authorities while private schools,also called public schools,are mainly operated by some board of trustees.
There are two main differences between a private school and a state school. Three children in every classroom are reported to have mental health condition. Half of these are behavioral disorders, while one third are emotional disorders such as stress and anxiety, which often become obvious through self-harm.
There was a surprising 52 percent jump in hospital admissions for children and young people who had harmed themselves between 2009 and 2015. Schools and teachers have continuously reported the problem since 2009. Last year,over half the teachers reported that more of their students experienced mental health problems than in the past.
But teachers also continuously report how ill-equipped they feel to meet students’ mental health needs,and often mention lack of training and support from the National Health Service. Part of the reason for the increased pressure on schools is that there are now fewer‘early intervention(干預(yù))’and low-level mental health services based in the community. Cuts to local authority budgets(預(yù)算) since 2010 have resulted in a dramatic reduction of these services,despite strong proof of their effectiveness in preventing problems happening again. The only way to break the pressures on both mental health services and schools is to put more money in early intervention services inside schools.
There are strong arguments for why schools are best places to provide mental health services. Schools see young people more than any other service, which gives them a unique ability to get to hardto-reach children and to build meaningful relationships with them over time. Recent studies have shown that children and young people largely prefer to see an adviser in school rather than in an outside environment. Young people have reported that for low-level conditions such as stress and anxiety,a hospital setting can sometimes be frightening.
There are already examples of creative schools which connect mental health with school courses. This will,though,require a huge cultural change. Politicians and school leaders must be brave enough to change schools into providers of health as well as education services.
